Justin: Welcome to MPAs Tech Table, I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re you’re hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise, it’ll be easy to digest. Hi Justin.

Justin: My goodness, Diana, Apple has just announced the iOS 8. Dun dun dun dun.

Diana: iOS 8, what’s that?

Justin: I have no idea.

Diana: [Laughs]

Justin: No, just kidding. [Laughs] So iOS is an operating system, it’s Apple’s operating system, and it was recently announced, and yet again, they have self labeled the system as the biggest and the best mobile iOS.

Diana: I’m sure they did.

Justin: Isn’t that just something.

Diana: [Laughs]

Justin: Ah, Apple. So, you gotta love ‘em. So, some of the new features in this iOS

Diana: Yes?

Justin: will include a revamp of the multitasking screen.

Diana: You can now see recent people who you have had conversations with, or recent events apart from the apps.

Justin: Yeah, that’s interesting. I’m not sure how handy that’ll be, but apparently

Diana: Yeah. It’s something. You know, I’m sure it’s something that some people really, really use a lot.

Justin: Right. Exactly.

Diana: Maybe not everyone.

Justin: Exactly. Also changes how your pictures are managed. Now, I mean, all pictures you take, even those you edit are sent through the Cloud.

Diana: That’s cool.

Justin: That’s interesting.

Diana: I see that messages are getting an update. And, it gives you more hands on features?

Justin: Right. Yeah, better voice quality and ability to spell video right in the text, which is really good.

Diana: Ah.

Justin: You know, I think it’s interesting, Apple’s been having a lot of problems with their messaging, there’s some compatibility issues, and things like that, so they’ve been doing a whole makeover for their messaging anyway, so that’s a really good thing.

Diana: Yes. And now you can share your location by a text, and it’s, I know you

Justin: Or, can’t you just text someone and say, I’m in Des Moines?

Diana: It’s just like a little thing you click, and it also shows a map if you want it to.

Justin: Well, that’s fascinating. I guess, if you’re like, trying to meet up with someone.

Diana: Right.

Justin: You could literally, like send them via text

Diana: Yeah, here’s where I am.

Justin: like the GPS, and then they could find it based on some of that information.

Diana: Mm hm.

Justin: That’s interesting. What else, Diana? What else?

Diana: Well, they’ve also made several design improvements so that you can see and use the iOS faster and better. And in keyboard news

Justin: Mm hm?

Diana: One complaint that we hear often from people who previously used Android phones

Justin: Right.

Diana: is that they missed the keyboard on those Android devices, so now Apple has added predictive words to click on, and saves time typing, and additionally, this is big for me, you can swipe now, on the Apple device.

Justin: Yes, it really is. That’s good. You like the swiping.

Diana: I love to swipe.

Justin: You’ve been a huge fan of that, right. And so, anyone ever heard of Goggle Drive?

Diana: I think we’ve talked about it.

Justin: Yeah, and now Apple is going to have their own version.

Diana: Mm hm.

Justin: Called. iCloud Drive. Talk about clouding my vision with everybody’s different versions. Can we all just get along?

Diana: No.

Justin: No. Okay. So, you can store and create documents just like you can on Google Drive.

Diana: Mm hm.

Justin: Yeah, it’s going to be interesting to see how that works.

Diana: It will. It will. But, perhaps one of the biggest things to note is that Apple is releasing better tools to developers to create apps.

Justin: What does that mean, Diana?

Diana: People that are wanting to create apps now have the tools through Apple to do it.

Justin: So, basically, third party applications now how the ability to become better integrated within the devices.

Diana: Yep.

Justin: That is huge.

Diana: Mm hm.

Justin: You know, because Apple’s been previously known for tight, tight security.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: Yeah.

Diana: So, anyway, it’s scheduled to come out this fall.

Justin: Yeah, it is.

Diana: We’ll see, but it will probably be pretty good.

Justin: It’ll be probably pretty good. You know, it always takes awhile. It’s intuitive, yet you actually have to learn to work with it a lot of times.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: Just because, sometimes the intuitiveness is something you’re not expecting, which is what I find interesting about Apple products.

Diana: Mm hm.

Justin: So, yeah, I look forward to iOS 8 this fall. Until next time.

Diana: Take care.
