Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table, I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise, it’ll be easy to digest. Well, hello there, Justin.

Justin: Hello Diana, it’s Wednesday.

Diana: Yes, yes, it is Web Wednesday.

Justin: It is Web Wednesday here on the Tech Table, and we’re going to talk about Kitestring?

Diana: Kitestring.

Justin: I don’t know what this is.

Diana: Yes, yes, well, Kitestring.io.

Justin: So, it’s .io?

Diana: So, don’t go Kitestring.com, Kitestring.io.

Justin: Kitestring.io

Diana: It is a simple website, and a text, or sms service that alerts your emergency contacts if you don’t check in.

Justin: Don’t check in where?

Diana: With them.

Justin: With them. Okay.

Diana: Yeah, if they don’t know where you are they can try to help find ya.

Justin: Oh, interesting.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: Okay, well, how’s it work?

Diana: Okay, so you’re gonna go to Kitestring.io and create a new account.

Justin: Okay.

Diana: To create the account you do need to provide your cell phone number, and verify that you received a verification number that’s sent to your phone, because that’s how they’ll find you.

Justin: They’re gonna use your phone technology to find you.

Diana: Exactly, and then once you have verified your account you will add a list of emergency contacts and their cell phone numbers.

Justin: Okay.

Diana: When you are heading out somewhere by yourself visit the website and click a button indicating the duration of your trip, and then click a button saying that you’re leaving. So, it’s just a little check in with that.

Justin: Sure.

Diana: Once you’re back safe, send a little text message to Kitestring saying, okay.

Justin: Okay.

Diana: So, it’s just really good if you’re going to be doing something on your own. Sometimes you take a road trip.

Justin: Right. Sure. This is like the old fashioned, call me when you get home.

Diana: Sort of thing.

Justin: Sort of thing, except now your relatives don’t have to worry about your because they’ll hear from Kitestring.

Diana: Yes, if they’re concerned they can check Kitestring.

Justin: Interesting, yeah. So, what happens if you don’t send an okay message?

Diana: So, if you don’t send an okay message by the end of the time that you had originally set up at Kitestring.io, the site will alert your emergency contacts.

Justin: Interesting.

Diana: So, you’ll want to make sure and send that okay message.

Justin: You’ve really got to remember that. It’s like when Mom says, let me know when you get home, or let me know when you get to…

Diana: I know, I forget half of the time.

Justin: I know, so how are you going to remember to do this? You’ll have to set an alert in your phone to remind you to send an okay to Kitestring.io.

Diana: Yeah. No, this may not be for everyone.

Justin: No, it’s interesting though.

Diana: But, it is another safety measure.

Justin: It is. It is. So, have you tried it?

Diana: I have not tried it. This is a thing that came as a suggestion from Chris, at our office.

Justin: Okay.

Diana: And he, I think he has his kids work with it.

Justin: His kids use it. That’s interesting. I just don’t know how I would remember. I’d have to set an alert in my phone to remind me to send an okay, probably.

Diana: Or maybe, it doesn’t say this here, but perhaps Kitestring actually sends you an alert at that time first?

Justin: That would be helpful.

Diana: Hey, have you gotten to your destination, or something like that.

Justin: Right, yeah, that would be a very helpful thing. So, that’s Kitestring.io.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: So, again, not Kitestring.com, but Kitestring.io. and so, it’s basically, yeah, it’s a website, you make an account, you then use it for I guess, keeping track of you.

Diana: Yourself.

Justin: Yeah, keeping track of yourself, and making sure that you are safe.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: So, yeah, that’s sort of an interesting thing, very good. Until next time…

Diana: Take care.
