Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table. I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise it’ll be easy to digest.

Justin: Ho, ho, ho, Diana!

Diana: What?

Justin: What?

Diana: Wait, what?

Justin: Well, it’s Thursday.

Diana: Thursday equals Santa Claus?

Justin: Today it does. You know, I just saw someone on Facebook say that they had started their Christmas shopping. And I know it’s still summer.

Diana: Oh, my.

Justin: But you got to start early, you know, and sometimes you can find great deals by starting early. Sometimes, if you start your Christmas shopping, you know, I know people who Christmas shop year-round.

Diana: Well, that’s true.

Justin: You know, they see something that they wouldn’t get the same deal on elsewhere in the year and so they buy it. It’s on their list.

Diana: Yes, yes.

Justin: Yeah, so today, Thursday equals Christmas shopping day.

Diana: Okay.

Justin: It’s never too early to start this, and the last thing you want to do is wait until the last minute.

Diana: Like a lot of people do.

Justin: Like a lot of people do, yeah. So, Diana, where do you do your Christmas shopping online at?

Diana: Online specifically?

Justin: Online specifically. This is a web-related segment.

Diana: Okay.

Justin: Okay, hang with me.

Diana: Okay, I’m with you.

Justin: Okay, go.

Diana: Online, I do a lot of shopping at Amazon, frankly.

Justin: And that’s exactly what I was going to say. You know, at Amazon, and we talk about Amazon a lot and some people don’t like Amazon. But honestly, you can buy something for anyone on Amazon. There are very few things that Amazon doesn’t have.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: And Amazon works through a network of sellers.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: So, even if Amazon itself as a company doesn’t stock something, they have a network of sellers.

Diana: All sorts of partners.

Justin: Absolutely, that will have your item and it will be shipped, it will be handled through Amazon, but it will be just as fast as seamless as if you were shopping directly with Amazon.

Diana: So, it’s very rare for Amazon not to have something you’re looking for.

Justin: That’s true.

Diana: Very rare.

Justin: What’s the most unusual thing that you ever bought for someone on Amazon? Or even for yourself, I guess.

Diana: That’s a great question.

Justin: I’ll tell you what mine is.

Diana: Oh, you know.

Justin: I do. You know, I’d never done anything with painting, artistic painting, but I bought you a paint set. You said you wanted to try painting.

Diana: Yes, yes.

Justin: I have yet to see you try it, but I did buy you entire, I bought you an easel and paint.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: And Amazon made it very easy because they bundled all the things together that I would need, which I didn’t really know.

Diana: They showed you suggested items.

Justin: Yeah, exactly. So, like the first thing I went to do is get a kit, just a starter, you know, you wanted to use oil or acrylic, which was it?

Diana: Oils.

Justin: Right, you wanted to use oils.

Diana: I hear those are good for starters.

Justin: Right. So, I went to Amazon and just typed that in, and chose, you know, “oil paint kit.” And saw that, and then I didn’t know what else I would need. I didn’t even thing about needed canvasses for you.

Diana: Right, you just want me to paint on the wall.

Justin: No. And then, so it suggested to me that I might want to buy you canvasses as well, and then it suggested maybe an easel. And yeah, then I just bought the whole package right on Amazon, and it got delivered to our door, and you had a merry Christmas.

Diana: Yeah, I have to say, I was very surprised in a very good way. I love it!

Justin: Yeah, exactly.

Diana: It’s all set up and ready for me whenever I’m ready for it.

Justin: Exactly, someday when you actually find time to use it.

Diana: I know. I feel like I need, you know, a few hours where I can just focus on the art.

Justin: Yeah, good luck with that.

Diana: I know, I know. Maybe I need to just get in there in the morning.

Justin: Absolutely. So, that’s really the thing. I say, you’re starting your Christmas shopping early, check out Amazon, even if it’s something that you’re not sure of, you know, what you’re looking for, if it’s a niece or nephew or other relative that said, “I want this,” and you’re like, what is that even? Amazon will help you understand more about it.

Diana: Great idea.

Justin: So, try that out. Have a merry Christmas early.

Diana: Ho, ho, ho!

Justin: Until next time.

Diana: Take care.

Justin: Tech Table is brought to you by MPA of Bloomfield, Iowa, and God’s Country Radio. You can visit us online at AskMPA.com.
