Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table, I’m Justin.

Diana: And, I’m Diana.

Justin: We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise it’ll be easy to digest. We’ll it is Monday Justin.

Justin: It is Monday, you don’t seem very excited today Diana.

Diana: We’ll I guess it’s the opposite of Friday so.

Justin: I guess to you, see I like Monday. I have a lot of exciting things going on.

Diana: I try, I really try to like Monday.

Justin: I used to not like Monday too so I understand. I go through phases.

Diana: Yeah, I’m going through a phase.

Justin: Ya, there you go. Alright, I just got up and sun was shining and things like that. It’s Monday, it’s beautiful. Alright, you know we’ve had numerous people sending in questions lately and one of their questions, you know right now is panicking because Windows XP. Because XP is no longer supported. We talked about this often right now and we’ve had people write in to our e-mail address which is.

Diana: Questions@askMpa.com

Justin: And ask about what to do because outlook express is not supported anymore.

Diana: Right, and for a lot of people, outlook is what they’ve been using for years.

Justin: Oh, I know, I used to use outlook before I switched to G-mail.

Diana: E-mail, calendars, everything.

Justin: So with the recent you know halting of the support of Windows XP. Several of those Windows programs that were included in that are now gone.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: And some of the programs such as outlook express are now gone or barely working.

Diana: Ouch.

Justin: So, what you need to do is, you need to find an alternative, obviously to Outlook express. You know Windows released on alternative offline mail program that you can use which completely replaces outlook express and people do use this I know successfully. It’s called Windows Live Mail.

Diana: And Windows Live Mail is a program that you can actually download for free and add your e-mail too it. Now once you add your e-mail, you can use it as much as you like and much in the same way as outlook express. You’ll have calendars, you’ll have E-mail. You’ll have E-mail. You’ll have folders.

Justin: You name it, you’ve got it.

Diana: You name it, you’ve got it.

Justin: Much like outlook express,.so another question that we get asked a lot is about what about all my folders and stuff?

Diana: [Laugh]

Justin: So you know, there’s the folders.

Diana: That you’ve been sorting.

Justin: Right, everything that you’ve had through outlook express. So in most cases the folders you make travel through to the new system but it is solely dependent on the E-mail provider you use like G-Mail, Yahoo or a local provider.

Diana: Yes, if it does not come through you will have to manually move all your email and create new folders but don’t worry this is a rare problem.

Justin: It is a rare problem, you know and I made the switch early on. I had good technical advice before I ever really got into the technology world. I still had a friend who was fantastic and he said you’ve got to switch to G-mail now. And that’s before.

Diana: And you’ve never regretted that.

Justin: Oh, I’ve never regretted it, and that’s was really before G-mail had Google apps and Google developed all of that.

Diana: Right, it was pretty much just your E-mail platform.

Justin: It was a search and E-Mail. You know I went to G-Mail very early on. I mean it wasn’t called that, I think it was just called, it was just Google Mail. Google E-mail or something at the time.

Diana: Google mail.

Justin: Yeah, and I used that you know and loved that and honestly I mean it is fantastic, and I know there are people who are like no we don’t want that. It’s okay if you don’t want that you can use Windows Live mail but most likely I mean G-mail is great because it is web based and you can use G-Mail anywhere, it’s so easy that way.

Diana: Yes

Justin: And the way our future is going, that’s just what’s going to happen so I highly suggest G-Mail but if you don’t want to do that, you want to use an outlook similar sort of thing. Windows live-mail is there for you so great well send your questions to

Diana: Questions@askMpa.com

Justin: Until next time.

Diana: Take care.
