Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech table. I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up heaping spoonful of all things Tech.

Diana We promise it’ll be easy to digest. And it is Monday.

Justin: A new chapter has begun.

Diana: A new day, a new dawn.

Justin: Lets not get carried away.

Diana: [Laugh]

Justin: [Laugh]

Diana: But it is, it is a new day.

Justin: It is and you know you can start fresh. I always say you can look at Monday two different ways. You can look at it being hopeful about what’s happening. What’s coming. Or you can look at it and be sad the weekend’s done. So it depends on your mentality, how you approach things.

Diana: It’s true.

Justin: It’s about perspective.

Diana: Perspective people.

Justin: Don’t bring that up, you used to say all the time. It’s a Sandy Patty reference that I used to use. I used to tell a Sandy Patty story in concert all the time and at the end of it I would always say because she said, it’s about perspective people. And ever since, when I say perspective you say

Diana: Perspective people

Justin: Always, yes.

Diana: Aww but that’s what being married is all about.

Justin: I guess so, and Sandy Patty has quite an impact on our lives apparently.

Diana: Aww, she’s great.

Justin: Yeah, she is great. She is great so anyways, we’ve got to get to our mail questions.

Diana: Its mail time and you can send us any questions you have to the email address Questions@askMpa.com.

Justin: Yes.

Diana: Or you can give us a call and that’s 888-672-0070.

Justin: Right or you can stop us on the street.

Diana: You can.

Justin: If you see us which I usually don’t walk around.

Diana: Or tweet at us @AskMpa. Find us on Facebook.

Justin: Alright, there are lots of options. Okay, here we go.

Diana: So Vern called this past week and had a very pressing question.

Justin: Ahh yes.

Diana: Vern says I spilled a drink on my laptop. What do I do now.

Justin: Right, exactly and that’s a problem you know and of course our first question is what kind of drink is it because if it has sugar in it or something like that it’s another story.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: But our first hope is that it’s only water. Water you know you can save your computer from if immediately flip it over and basically let it air out. You know and you can use that good rice trick.

Diana: Oh yeah we’ve talked about that before.

Justin: And submerge the entire computer in rice.

Diana: Yes now be careful about doing that because your computer does have little fan openings.

Justin: Right exactly so you could put a piece of tape over the fan holes.

Diana: Holes, there we go.

Justin: Exactly and submerge it in rice and that will extract the moisture from the laptop. So if there’s anything besides water. If it’s pop or if its milk, it could be much more problematic.

Diana: Yes, I mean don’t despair but it is probably not going to be as good of an outcome. Pop is sticky and it just won’t simply dry, I mean it will dry sticky with a film.

Justin: Right and then milk leaves calcium deposits that will damage your computer. Yeah, liquids in general. You know have a chance at shorting your computer out. That’s not good.

Diana: So just try not to spill that stuff.

Justin: Well just don’t.

Diana: Or maybe don’t have it around.

Justin: Right and I grew up, and I’m a piano kid so I grew up around pianos and you never took any liquids around the piano.

Diana: Right.

Justin: Same thing here, don’t take liquids around your computer.

Diana: Yes, now they do have a special electronic alcohol that you can clean the residue off if you feel like you don’t want to get in there and try to clean it yourself.

Justin: Wow, in case you actually want to try to clean it. That’s impressive.

Diana: I know, just apply it gently with a towel or a brush and it evaporates really quickly so it won’t damage the computer but you got to do it slowly. And take caution there.

Justin: And you know no matter what happens you’re most likely going to need to replace that keyboard and that can be upwards of a hundred dollars or more so you know, think twice about having your beverages near your computer.

Diana: Yeah, just be smart.

Justin: Until next time.

Diana: Take care
