Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table. I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise it’ll be easy to digest.

Diana: Hello Justin, it’s Friday, and you know…

Justin: Oh, you’re excited.

Diana: I’m excited.

Justin: Yes, Friday’s a great day of the week. I got a fortune cookie the other day…

Diana: Yes.

Justin: …that said Friday’s always a happy day at the office, or something like that.

Diana: Yeah, you can always find happiness at the office on Friday.

Justin: Right, exactly. Yeah. You should write fortune cookies.

Diana: Evidently.

Justin: You put that very fortune cookie-like.

Diana: [LAUGHS].

Justin: So it’s true, you pretty much can always find happiness on Friday at the office. So you go around asking Friday Faves, as always, and this time it was, what are you reading right now? So what’s your favorite book, or magazine, or I guess anything.

Diana: Anything.

Justin: Any…blog, I guess.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: So you asked Moire, our mascot kitty cat.

Diana: Well I realized I had been leaving Moire out unintentionally.

Justin: It’s true. Well, and Moire always has an opinion about everything.

Diana: It’s true, so I thought, why not go to Moire first?

Justin: There ya go. So Moire, the cat, has an opinion. He’s been reading Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune, by Bill Dedman and Paul Clark Newell, Jr.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: And he says it’s a fascinating read about the heiress of a fortune that lived the last years of her life in a hospital by choice, rather than the opulent mansion she had inherited.

Diana: Sounds like a good Moire read.

Justin: And it is, yeah. And this…The Life of Huguette Clark has been covered recently in media.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: Because she passed away and she had these opulent mansions that she kept that were a part of what her inheritance was. She kept them up, she kept all the servants living there, and paid and everything, but she lived the last, like, 14 years in a hospital, just because she didn’t really care.

Diana: Yeah.

Justin: But she’s interesting. She has like a weird doll collection. It’s an interesting read.

Diana: She was eccentric.

Justin: Yeah, Moire was filling me in on it, and so I thought I might read it next, but I can’t get him to give it ot me.

Diana: [LAUGHS].

Justin: Anywho, go figure. Alright, then you asked John.

Diana: Yeah, I…

Justin: In tech.

Diana: John says, I am reading this email, obviously.

Justin: Yeah, a little bit of a smart aleck there.

Diana: And that’s about it.

Justin: There ya go, he doesn’t do much reading. Now Jodie, in design…now Jodie has a young daughter and she says three children’s books a night.

Diana: Yes. And I said oh, is that a title of a book?

Justin: Right.

Diana: No, literally, she reads three children’s books a night.

Justin: There ya go.

Diana: To her daughter.

Justin: There ya go. And Nathan, also a tech, says most recently, a user manual for a firewall router.

Diana: [LAUGHS].

Justin: That sounds about right for a tech, doesn’t it?

Diana: It does.

Justin: I remember how my grandpa used to read, you know, the manuals that came with tractors or different pieces of equipment. That was what he read.

Diana: You find out a lot of things…

Justin: Oh yeah.

Diana: …by reading the user manual.

Justin: Well a lot of things that you wouldn’t know about the equipment otherwise.

Diana: And you thought oh, that’s what that button does.

Justin: Yeah. David’s really been into a blog lately. The Groove Start-Up blog. He’s been enjoying that.

Diana: Sounds entrepreneurial.

Justin: Yeah, it’s a very transparent blog about mistakes that his company made and how they learned from them as they went. They were just very transparent about it.

Diana: Now Donnie says he has been brushing up on the articles from the E3 conference and the latest Apple releases.

Justin: Right, exactly. Yeah, that conference was really a big thing. Their developer conferences and things, and the latest Apple releases are always all the news, so Donnie tries to stay up on all of that so we can give it to you here on Tech Table for one.

Diana: That’s right.

Justin: And then Chris, who works in new business development for us and it also a programmer, he says that he needs something light to read, so he says mostly what he reads is technical and news, and he’s trying to skim about 300 headlines a day. If something catches his eye he’ll read the full article. So he’s trying to…he’s trying this new app called read quick, and it helps you speed read articles, books, et cetera, because he loves absorbing information.

Diana: That sounds like Chris.

Justin: So it’s called Read Quick. It’s a new app. You can try that along with Chris. So there you go. Enjoy your weekend…find something to read. Until next time…

Diana: Take care.

Justin: Tech Table was brought to you by MPA of Bloomfield, Iowa, and God’s Country Radio. You can visit us online at askmpa.com.

Diana: If you have questions or comments, please send them to questions@askmpa.com. That’s questions@askmpa.com

Justin: And thanks for listening!
