December 27, 2013

Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table. I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise it’ll be easy to digest. It’s Friday.

Justin: It is Friday. How are you?

Diana: I am well.

Justin: Good, good. You looking forward to the weekend?

Diana: Yes, it’s going to be a nice weekend and, you know, we’re still kind of coming down from Christmas. Looking forward to New Year’s.

Justin: Right, looking forward to the New Year. 2014 is coming, so today on Friday Faves, we’re going to talk about, you know, we went around the office at MPA and just discussed some of the favorite things that people had happen in 2013.

Diana: Right.

Justin: Jodie, who works in design at MPA, her daughter Abbie started dance and preschool. And then, Jodie’s brother got married, and then she also celebrated her one year wedding anniversary.

Diana: Awesome. Yeah!

Justin: What else do you have, Diana?

Diana: Well, let’s see. Tim, one of our techs, graduated from college, and he got some fiber optic certification, so that’s pretty cool, I thought. And he also moved to Bloomfield.

Justin: That’s right. That’s interesting. We have one, two, three, three of these people on our list talk about moving to Bloomfield. Bloomfield, Iowa.

Diana: Yeah, and it’s not that they moved really far away but they just didn’t live in town, or they didn’t even live in Davis County, some of them.

Justin: It’s a sweet little town, Bloomfield is. If you haven’t been, you should visit.

Diana: Yes, that’s true. And Tim also got a cat, he wanted to mention.

Justin: That’s right. Now, Donnie, at the front desk, he also said moving to Bloomfield but he got a cat.

Diana: Wow, he got a cat, too.

Justin: So, that’s a great thing. We love animals and taking care of them.

Diana: Chris had a really big milestone.

Justin: Yeah, Chris, who is in sales and also in our creative department, he says getting married.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: Which that’s a big step.

Diana: They also got a house.

Justin: They got a house, too. Wow, that’s a big year for Chris.

Diana: Big year.

Justin: He’s probably hoping that 2014 is calm. That’s great.

Diana: Nathan moved to Bloomfield.

Justin: That’s right. Nathan, our tech, moved to Bloomfield as well, and then David, the CEO, talks about a couple applications that the company launched. TymeShift and CCW Guardian, those are cool things. He’s also excited about the new season of Arrested Development, which is always, David loves that show. So, that’s pretty cool. What about you, Diana?

Diana: Well, you know, I love to travel, and I got to travel by plane for two different trips, and I just love flying! I don’t know, some people hate it, I love it.

Justin: Yeah, I like it if you can fly light, you know, without all the bags and stuff.

Diana: Yeah, just the carry-on. They did make me check my bag to valet both times, not check it, check it, but I couldn’t take it on the plane with me because I was on small planes.

Justin: Yeah, those little planes, you really can’t. What do they call those planes? Puddle jumpers, something like that?

Diana: Oh, yeah. Try not to think about it too hard. But no, it was great. I got to travel and see best friends in Long Beach, California, Portland, Oregon, Arizona, Arkansas. I ended up lots of different places.

Justin: You ended up a lot of places. Yeah, absolutely.

Diana: It was really great, lots of gigs, too.

Justin: Yeah, you had a lot of performances and things like that, as well. And then John, the head of our tech department, he says nothing specific. It was a pretty steady year for him, he says, but some of his favorite things are spending time with his whole family. And ladies and gentlemen, if you knew his family, you would agree that that’s enough excitement for anyone.

Diana: What about you, Justin?

Justin: Oh, for me, you know, I’ve had many things happen this year. I had a lot of fun medical things at the beginning of the year. Yeah, plagued with kidney stones and I spent about three months dealing with that at the beginning of the year. But recorded two albums this year out of our studio. Hosting the radio show, of course, is a lot of fun and exciting, with you so it’s fun. Absolutely. As you look to the weekend, take time to reflect on 2013.

Diana: Here’s to 2014!

Justin: That’s right. Until next time.

Diana: Take care.

Justin: Tech Table is brought to you by MPA of Bloomfield, Iowa, and God’s Country Radio. You can visit us online at AskMPA.com.

Justin: And thanks for listening.
