December 20, 2013

Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table. I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise it’ll be easy to digest. It’s Friday, Justin!

Justin: It is Friday, and it is the Friday before Christmas.

Diana: And I’m dancing!

Justin: You are dancing.

Diana: Good thing no one can see on the radio.

Justin: You’re working off your calories, here, right? Because you’ve been snacking.

Diana: Well, yes.

Justin: Who doesn’t this time of year?

Diana: Well, it’s the holidays and we’re continuing with our holiday fun theme.

Justin: It’s a beautiful thing.

Diana: And, you know, people just give you snacks at this time of the year.

Justin: Oh, they do. I mean, if you work in an office or something, you get bombarded this time of year.

Diana: But I like that kind of bombardation.

Justin: Yes, you do, you do. Absolutely.

Diana: I know it wasn’t a real word.

Justin: No, it’s okay. So, we asked at the MPA office, what some people’s favorite holiday snacks were. You actually sent an email that said, “It’s not the holidays without blank.”

Diana: Fill in the blank.

Justin: And it had to be a food item.

Diana: Yes. So, Jodie responded to me really fast. She must just have this on her mind. She claims it is not the holidays without ham balls and cheesy potatoes.

Justin: Absolutely, and then Nathan, from the tech team, says peanut brittle. A lot of people love peanut brittle. You know, I used to like peanut brittle a lot. I don’t know, I think I almost chipped a tooth on it once and that turned me off.

Diana: It can be brittle. Brutal brittle.

Justin: Brutal brittle. That’s funny. You’re right.

Diana: Now, John had something, I guess, a little more traditional.

Justin: Yeah, and he loves this. I can attest, like the day it came out, basically, John decided he had to have eggnog. And he just likes the eggnog you buy in the store, and he drinks it from the carton in the office, even. I’ve seen it.

Diana: Eggnog, I’m not a fan. Do you like eggnog?

Justin: You know, I do but I really don’t do much dairy anymore so I can’t really do that, and there are options, I know.

Diana: I just can’t get into it.

Justin: Yeah, it’s very heavy. It’s good, though. I like it.

Diana: Yeah, I’ll try it again this year. I try it every year.

Justin: There you go, maybe some year.

Diana: Maybe some year I’ll like it.

Justin: Alright, and then Tim, also from our tech team, says hot chocolate. It’s not Christmas without hot chocolate. Diana calls it cocoa.

Diana: I say hot cocoa.

Justin: Okay, I was with Diana and we go to Country Kitchen or some such restaurant, and she says, “I would like hot cocoa, please.”

Diana: I don’t say it with that accent.

Justin: Oh, yeah, you do, and they look at you like you’ve got another head. And I’m like, it’s just hot chocolate, I mean, it’s cocoa.

Diana: I don’t know, I grew up, it was cocoa to me.

Justin: I know, and we say cocoa, yes, and they say, “Chocolate, you want hot chocolate?” So, it’s hot chocolate or hot cocoa.

Diana: Yes, whatever you call it, it’s delicious.

Justin: It is but I’m really picky about my hot chocolate, honestly. I like it better from a mix, I think, than the real deal. Alright, and then Chris from creative, says “great big cheese ball thingys.”

Diana: I think he’s talking about those, you just call it cheese ball, but sometimes you can get a mixture and add cream cheese to it, chipped beef, things like that, seasoning.

Justin: Oh, right, you put them on crackers.

Diana: You put it on crackers, yeah.

Justin: Alright, and then I chose peanut butter fudge.

Diana: So did I!

Justin: I’m a huge peanut butter fudge guy.

Diana: We did ask our engineer, Noelle, whom we love, what her pick would be, and she also was in the fudge family with this but it was a more traditional fudge with a walnut on top that her granny would make, and then she would take off the walnut.

Justin: And give it to someone who wanted the walnuts, so she just liked the plain chocolate fudge.

Diana: However you like it.

Justin: Yes, fudge is a great thing. Excellent. Well, there’s plenty of food to keep you busy through the weekend. See if you can eat your way through this weekend right on into the holiday.

Diana: Sounds good.

Justin: Alright, until next time.

Diana: Take care.

Justin: Tech Table is brought to you by MPA of Bloomfield, Iowa, and God’s Country Radio. You can visit us online at AskMPA.com.
