Justin: Welcome to MPA’s “Tech Table” I’m Justin…

Diana: And, I’m Diana…

Justin: …and we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise it’ll be easy to digest!

Justin: It’s Friday.

Diana: You look excited, Justin.

Justin: Well, I am excited. I always love a good Friday.

Diana: I do, too.

Justin: Today, I mean, you know we always do favorites on Friday. You go around the office asking everyone their Friday Faves.

Diana: Various topics.

Justin: Absolutely, and if you’re using Twitter or even Facebook, you can view #ff for Friday Faves, if you want to talk about your own Friday favorites. So, you went around the office and you asked our team if they have any time-saving tips that they could share.

Diana: Yes. I think we all have certain things that we do to be efficient, to be quick about things, so I thought it would be really nice to hear what other people had to suggest, so I want to start with David. We’ll just start at the bottom of the list today.

Justin: Sure, the bottom of the list.

Diana: So, David is our CEO, and he really hit the nail on the head here: Remember that, naturally, you overestimate what you can do in a day, and you underestimate what you can do in a year. Plan accordingly. That’s very interesting, because you think, okay, I’ve got today free. I bet I can do this and this and this, and really, you can only do this and this, and get that done well. That’s what he’s saying. But, within a year, we may look ahead a year and think, well, I can do these five things, and honestly, we could probably do six or seven things. Big things. So, keep that in mind, the next time you’re setting goals for yourself.

Justin: That was pretty serious.

Diana: I wanted to get us off on the right foot.

Justin: Well, there you go. Speaking of being serious and getting things off on the right foot, we asked the cat–the office cat–Moray, what advice he would have on timesaving tips. Moray says, don’t overthink things. Just do something.

Diana: That’s great advice.

Justin: It is great advice, absolutely, because a lot of people spend a lot of time thinking about something, and yeah, you do need to think about things before you do them, but don’t overthink them.

Diana: Yes. So many people do dwell a little bit too long on that. Now, John and Nathan both took the smartalecky road here.

Justin: As our techs would.

Diana: Yes. John says, figure out a way to make the days longer. Nathan says, a cloning machine would be a great way to save time.

Justin: There you go.

Diana: So, I dunno how realistic either of those things are.

Justin: Probably not so much, now.

Diana: And, Jodie and I both had this joke about when we take breaks throughout the day, visit the ladies’ room or whatever, to play a game while you do that. That way, you’re not playing the game during…

Justin: Like, on your phone.

Diana: Right.

Justin: Like, Candy Crush, in your case.

Diana: Yeah, use that time.

Justin: That’s cute. Very charming. It works.

Diana: Now, I guess my tip would be, actually, use something like Google Calendar and map out your day. See if you really think something’s going to take an hour, and put that hour of time on there so you have a visual.

Justin: You are the queen of Calendar. You are unbelievable.

Diana: Get that visual going so you can really see. You’ll probably understand, I can’t really do all those things.

Justin: My timesaving tip is: delegate. They say I’m a master of delegation, and in my position, you need to be. But, yeah, delegate, if you can. Delegate things. Make a honey-do list out there, wives. Things like that. Delegate. Have a great weekend. Until next time…

Diana: …Take care!

Justin: Tech Table is brought to you by MPA of Bloomfield, Iowa, and God’s Country Radio. You can visit us online at askmpa.com.
