April 25, 2014

Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table, I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise, it will be easy to digest. And it is Friday, finally Friday.

Justin: It is Friday and it’s a great Friday, we’re gonna talk about flowers. You know it’s almost May. April showers bring May flowers.

Diana: What do Mayflowers bring?

Justin: June flooding!

Diana: Aw.

Justin: In Iowa that’s pretty much what happens, unfortunately. But no, seriously we’re gonna talk about flowers and just actually, our favorites around the office. Which is interesting because we have a bunch of guys in the office so it’s kinda fun to see these responses. So you went around the office Diana, and you asked everyone what their favorite kind of flower is.

Diana: I did, and I didn’t specify that they should base this on looks or scent or anything, I just, in general, I think just about everyone has a favorite flower, so.

Justin: I think so.

Diana: Yeah, so I asked Donnie first. I said “Donnie, what is your favorite flower?” And he very quickly responded, “Tiger lily.”

Justin: Tiger lily. Yeah there you go.

Diana: Mhm. Now this is interesting because someone else also said tiger lily.

Justin: Right, no, John in Tech, he said also tiger lily.

Diana: So I guess tiger lily is just very popular.

Justin: That’s interesting to me.

Diana: Within our staff there at MPA.

Justin: Now, Jodie, she’s an ever romantic designer said “red rose.”

Diana: Oh, yes, not just rose but a red rose.

Justin: That’s right.

Diana: Which of course makes me think of Alice in Wonderland, the painting the roses red.

Justin: Right. And then Chris, he said zinnias. Because he’s got a little story here. He says, “My son Jack picked out a packet of seeds when he was about 7, planted them, watched them grow, and has been a gardener ever since so they’ve always been my favorite.” Oh, that’s charming.

Diana: My goodness. That’s a perfect reason.

Justin: That’s lovely.

Diana: Now Justin, what is your favorite flower?

Justin: My favorite flower? I like peonies.

Diana: Oh. Okay.

Justin: I grew up with peonies, I think they’re really pretty. I also enjoy orchids.

Diana: My goodness.

Justin: Yes.

Diana: That’s a very complex flower.

Justin: It is, but I’m a very complex person so there ya go. What’s your favorite flower, Diana?

Diana: You know, I love daisies in general I think they’re like my happy flower.

Justin: Yeah, they’re charming little flowers.

Diana: But I really am drawn to the gardenia.

Justin: I don’t even know what that is.

Diana: Well remember when you took me –

Justin: They smell good, right?

Diana: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but remember when you took me to my Junior Prom?

Justin: Back in, yeah back when I took you to your Junior Prom, I vaguely remember that, yes.

Diana: My corsage was a gardenia.

Justin: Of course it was.

Diana: As was your boutonniere.

Justin: I was gonna say that.

Diana: You don’t remember? The flower?

Justin: Yeah, right? Oops.

Diana: Of course, our wedding flower was the calla lily.

Justin: Right, which I thought you’d say that.

Diana: I didn’t.

Justin: Yeah, I know. I always loved calla lilies though.

Diana: They’re beautiful as well.

Justin: We used to, once a year we used to get a nice bouquet of calla lilies, from the forest, just to celebrate our wedding. Yes, they’re lovely. And then we asked our CEO, David. And he said he doesn’t know the names of flowers, which doesn’t surprise me. But he says rose? Question mark. So I don’t think David’s really interested in that.

Diana: No, not sure he knows his, yeah.

Justin: No. What is your least favorite flower, Diana? I’ll tell you mine, I’ll tell you mine.

Diana: Okay, what’s yours?

Justin: Carnation.

Diana: Ohh.

Justin: A lot of people love carnations, but –

Diana: They do.

Justin: I really despise them. I have forever. I don’t know, I don’t know. I just do. What’s your least favorite kind of flower?

Diana: I don’t know.

Justin: Really?

Diana: I really don’t know. Should I know that?

Justin: Well, no, I just figured that you’d have an opinion. You usually do.

Diana: I do usually have an opinion, I don’t right now.

Justin: Alright, well I guess I’ll have to tune in next week.

Diana: Yeah, I’ll think about that.

Justin: Figure that out over the week, then.

Diana: We’ll have least favorite Friday.

Justin: Until next time!

Diana: Take care.
