We had a question from one of our customers that was searching for a copy of Microsoft Office that included the program Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
We wanted to blog about this because although there is a lot of good information available online, there doesn’t seem to be a clear, direct answer, in one place. Here’s a quick FAQ of what you need to know:
What versions of Microsoft Office include Picture Manager?
Microsoft Office 2003
Microsoft Office 2007
Microsoft Office 2010
Does Microsoft Office 2007 or 2010 Home & Student include Picture Manager?
Yes. Picture Manager is included in EVERY version of Microsoft Office that is listed above. This includes the stripped down Home & Student bundles.
What should I do if I have installed a version of Microsoft Office but do not see Picture Manager as being available?
Make sure it is installed by following the instructions in this guide.
Since Picture Manager is NOT included in Microsoft Office 2013, what is Microsoft’s Solution?
Use Windows Live Photo Gallery instead.

When opening an image in Microsoft Picture Manager 2007 the image will open however Picture Manager freezes up not long after the image loads. Any thoughts on a fix? This just recently started happening.

The first thing to check when this kind of things starts happening is if there are any Windows Updates specifically pertaining to Picture Manager. If there are not any then I would try doing a repair install for Picture Manager. You can do so by going into add/remove programs inside your control panel and scrolling through the list of programs until you come across Microsoft Picture Manager. Click on the program and at the top there will be an option for uninstall/change. Click on that and then it will walk you through the steps of running a repair on the program. Windows live photo gallery is a load of hogwash and a waste of time … MS Picture manager was an awesome tool with great features and I used it almost every day. I have been struggling to get the same functionality in one program – What irritates me is that the guys that call themselves “Technical” guru’s can even think of recommending Windows live photo gallery as a replacement!!!!!!!!!!!!
