Do I like suckers?

This week’s question: During the recent grand re-opening Abbie submitted the following question: “Moire, do you like suckers?”

Moire’s answer: Abbie, my darling girl, thanks for the question. P.T. Barnum, the great showman, is often credited with saying “There is a sucker born every minute”. This is so true. In fact there are many suckers born every second and my favorite is the long adored Tootsie Roll Pop. According to tootsie.com the world, as should be no surprise, agrees with me and has named this delicious confection the World’s No. 1 selling candy filled lollipop! Millions of these suckers are born out of the factory every day and enjoyed by people in over 75 countries. Amazing!

The long standing question, Abbie, has been “How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?” I’ve been told by the people at the company that they have received 20,000 letters from kids just like you explaining how many licks it took them to get to that wonderful Tootsie center. The low is around 100 and the high is 5,800! That is a lot of licks!

I, myself, typically don’t have the patience to lick my way to the center of a delicious Tootsie Roll Pop. I lick it a few times and then C-R-U-N-C-H right into the middle! If you haven’t tried my favorite sucker then I encourage you to have your parents buy one for you. You can then answer this age old question for yourself.
