Justin: Welcome to MPA’s Tech Table. I’m Justin.

Diana: And I’m Diana.

Justin: And we’re your hosts. We’ll be serving up a heaping spoonful of all things tech.

Diana: We promise it’ll be easy to digest.

Diana: Well hello, Justin.

Justin: Dun dun da da…dun dun da da.

Diana: Oh, oh my.

Justin: Can you guess what the theme is today?

Diana: [LAUGHS]

Justin: It’s Theme Thursday. It must be weddings.

Diana: Weddings!

Justin: Yes.

Diana: Wedding bells are ringing.

Justin: Yes, exactly. We just got through with wedding month. You know, June. I think that’s still…I mean it’s traditionally wedding month.

Diana: I think that’s traditional, but you know, you see weddings every month now of the year, that are more and more popular, especially into the Fall.

Justin: Yeah.

Diana: I think people are really loving the whole Fall wedding thing.

Justin: That just makes it harder, because now I have to figure out all sorts of different excuses to dodge weddings.

Diana: Oh boy!

Justin: [LAUGHS] Just kidding. It’s a typical guy thing…not a huge fan of the wedding. For people that I’m really close to. But, you know, it’s like when you get an invitation from someone you barely know, and they come to your wedding, then you’re like, I don’t even know you. I don’t really…you know, yeah, and you’re looking at me like oh, it’s a joyous occasion, it’s a beautiful day…you have to go celebrate.

Diana: [LAUGHS] Yes.

Justin: Yeah, and for me, you know…

Diana: Or, just think of it this way…free cake. Come on.

Justin: Yeah I’m still, I could go to…I could just go to the grocery store and buy some cake, frankly.

Diana: [LAUGHS].

Justin: I mean…

Diana: Much easier than sitting through a wedding. Awe.

Justin: They’re really not that bad, obviously. When I go, then I’m like okay, that was fun.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: You get to see a lot of people.

Diana: Well most of them aren’t that long, really, anymore.

Justin: No.

Diana: I mean, depending on, you know, if it’s a religious service or not, or…

Justin: Well I went to a wedding a few weeks ago, and yeah, I mean it was literally 20 minutes long.

Diana: Oh yeah.

Justin: Just bam, done.

Diana: Now ours was like an hour.

Justin: Was it?

Diana: Yeah, we had live music.

Justin: That’s true, we did have live music. I don’t remember it being an hour.

Diana: I think it was an hour. Or maybe it just felt like that because the air conditioning went out.

Justin: Yeah, the air conditioning went out in the church. That’s a whole another story.

Diana: [LAUGHS].

Justin: So you know, obviously, planning a wedding is a lot of work. You want to make sure you have a church that has a working air conditioning.

Diana: Yes. [LAUGHS].

Justin: But there are some great tools available, you know, to help you with a wedding of any size.

Diana: Yes, now first up, zola.com is a global wedding registry. That’s Z-O-L-A dot com. So you go there, you create an account and start adding gifts from any store. Don’t know what to add? Zola provides recommendations based upon your likes and needs. There are starter collections, bring together items for some several different stores to showcase like a particular function, such as entertaining, or baker collection, or fun and adventure. So it’s fun and easy for both you and your guests.

Justin: That sounds like a good idea. I always liked, you know, the Target gift registry.

Diana: Target’s easy, yeah.

Justin: Yeah, that was huge when we got married.

Diana: Anywhere that you could actually go to the store, or order online, that’s pretty good for your guests.

Justin: The Target gift registry was just like brand new, I think, when we got married, so it was huge. 13 years ago.

Diana: Woo.

Justin: Woo.

Diana: Boy. Now, one of the big things about getting married are your bridal party needing dresses and tuxes.

Justin: That’s true.

Diana: Now a lot of times the bridesmaids will buy their dresses, or you buy the dresses for your bridesmaids. Because you think oh, they can wear these again. But the tuxes for the guys, rarely do they ever consider that. And men don’t just really have tuxes.

Justin: Nope, not anymore.

Diana: So you assume you’re gonna be needing to rent. So online, there’s littleborrweddress.com, and theblacktux.com, and those are online rental operations that you can outfit your wedding party.

Justin: Sure, that’s great. There are also…this is a big one that I want to make sure we get in here, theknot.com.

Diana: Yes.

Justin: And that’s knot as in K-N-O-T, theknot.com. It’s a one stop shop for all things wedding. It’s a huge wedding site. You get ideas for everything from dresses to menus and flowers, and also create your own free website at The Knot, you know, for that occasion. It’s a really great tool.

Diana: Yeah, it is.

Justin: The Knot has just a ton of resources.

Diana: Well established, well developed by now, too.

Justin: Absolutely. So enjoy planning your wedding, or going to weddings this time of year. Until next time…

Diana: Take care.

Justin: Tech Table was brought to you by MPA of Bloomfield, Iowa, and God’s Country Radio. You can visit us online at askmpa.com.

Diana: If you have questions or comments, please send them to questions@askmpa.com. That’s questions@askmpa.com

Justin: And thanks for listening!
